The Future of Lagos PDP Post-Atiku Abubakar: Strength and Resilience for 2027

The Future of Lagos PDP Post-Atiku Abubakar: Strength and Resilience for 2027

Prince Adelaja Adeoye has just been honored at the 2024 City People Real Estate Awards for his outstanding leadership and transformative impact in Nigeria’s real estate industry.

Prince Laja Adeoye, a prominent figure in the Lagos State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), remains optimistic about the party's future despite the departure of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar. Speaking to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos, Adeoye, who is eyeing a House of Representatives seat in Oshodi-Isolo Federal Constituency, emphasized that the PDP will emerge stronger in preparation for the 2027 general elections.

Atiku Abubakar recently announced his resignation from the PDP, citing unresolved issues within the party. Although he has not officially joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC), a coalition of opposition leaders, including Atiku, has indicated their alignment with the ADC for the upcoming elections.

Reacting to Atiku's departure, Adeoye expressed confidence that the PDP will benefit from renewed peace and stability. "The departure of one individual cannot extinguish the PDP's resilience. Atiku has left before, and the party has endured," Adeoye remarked.

He further stated, "The PDP is in a phase of rebuilding. As we approach 2027, we anticipate a resurgence in party support. Many who have joined ADC may reconsider their positions as the PDP consolidates its strength."

Adeoye acknowledged the coalition of political parties but stressed the importance of PDP's leadership in any effective alliance. "For such coalitions to succeed, the PDP, as Africa's largest party, must take the lead. Otherwise, it risks being ineffectual," he asserted.

Notable political figures, including Peter Obi, Rauf Aregbesola, Nasir El-Rufai, and Rotimi Amaechi, have aligned themselves with the coalition alongside Atiku Abubakar.

In conclusion, Prince Laja Adeoye's optimism underscores the PDP's resilience and its strategic positioning ahead of the 2027 elections.
