My Vision for Lagos
As your next governor, I envision a Lagos that is not just a city of opportunities but also a city that welcomes everyone, irrespective of their background, ethnicity, or socio-economic status. I believe that an inclusive Lagos is not just a dream; it is a necessity. We are a city of diverse cultures, languages, and traditions, and it is time we celebrate this diversity rather than allow it to divide us.
Specific Plans to Achieve Inclusivity
To realize this vision, my government will implement several key policies aimed at fostering inclusiveness in our communities:
- Community Outreach Programs: I will create programs that involve community leaders from Lagos Island to Ajegunle, ensuring that every voice is heard. These programs will focus on understanding the unique challenges faced by each community.
- Equitable Access to Resources: My administration will ensure that resources, such as education and healthcare, are distributed equitably across all Local Government Areas (LGAs), including places like Ikorodu, Epe, and Badagry. I will prioritize building schools and health centers in underserved areas.
- Affordable Housing Initiatives: I will push for affordable housing projects that cater to all classes of citizens, particularly in areas like Lekki and Victoria Island, where many working-class citizens are being priced out of their homes.
- Job Creation Programs: I will create job opportunities through skill acquisition programs in partnership with local businesses. This initiative will target youth in areas like Ikeja and Surulere, where unemployment rates are high.
- Cultural Festivals and Events: To promote unity, I will organize cultural festivals that celebrate the rich diversity of Lagos, bringing together communities from all corners of the state.
Timeline for Implementation
I understand that words alone are not enough. Therefore, I promise to roll out these initiatives within the first year of my administration. By the end of my first term, I aim to have:
- Established at least 5 community outreach centers across different LGAs.
- Launched 10 affordable housing projects.
- Created over 5,000 jobs through skill acquisition and partnerships.
