Empowering Women for a Better Lagos: Uniting for Change

Empowering Women for a Better Lagos: Uniting for Change

Empowering Women for a Better Lagos: Uniting for Change

Today, I had the privilege of engaging in a vibrant interactive session with the PDP Women Leaders from all 20 Local Government Areas of Lagos State. Leaders from the Lagos West, Central, and East Senatorial Districts came together, creating a powerful coalition dedicated to transforming our beloved state.

This gathering was more than just a meeting; it was a celebration of unity, hope, and determination. The energy in the room was palpable as we collectively embraced the BETTER LAGOS AGENDA 2027, code-named Atunto Eko 1.0. This initiative is not just a policy framework; it is a call to action for every Lagosian to participate in the vision of a more inclusive, dynamic, and prosperous Lagos.

The Role of Women in Governance

Women have always been at the forefront of change in Lagos. From the bustling streets of Ikeja to the serene neighborhoods of Ikorodu, women are leading businesses, nurturing families, and driving community initiatives. Their voices and contributions are essential to the governance of our state. The Atunto Eko 1.0 initiative recognizes this, aiming to empower women leaders to take on more prominent roles in shaping policies that affect our lives.

A Vision for Inclusivity

Inclusivity is a cornerstone of my campaign. In Lagos, we are a vibrant tapestry of cultures, backgrounds, and aspirations. Every resident deserves a seat at the table, and I am committed to ensuring that our governance reflects the diversity of our great state. Through the Better Lagos Agenda, we will implement policies that address the unique needs of all communities, from the busy markets of Lagos Island to the tranquil parks of Victoria Island.

Key Initiatives of Atunto Eko 1.0

  • Empowerment Programs: We will launch training and mentorship programs aimed at equipping women with the skills they need to thrive in leadership positions.
  • Economic Opportunities: By fostering an environment that supports entrepreneurship, we will create more job opportunities for women in Lagos.
  • Healthcare Access: Ensuring that women have access to quality healthcare services is paramount. We will work towards improving maternal and child health facilities across the state.
  • Infrastructure Development: We will prioritize infrastructure projects that enhance mobility and accessibility, especially in areas like Badagry and Alimosho.

Engaging Communities

As I traveled across Lagos, from the bustling streets of Surulere to the scenic views of Lekki, I have seen firsthand the resilience and spirit of our people. It is this same spirit that I witnessed during our session today. Women leaders from diverse backgrounds shared their experiences, challenges, and aspirations. Their stories inspired me, reminding us all that together, we can overcome any obstacle.

Join Us in Building a Better Lagos

The path to a better Lagos begins with us—every man, woman, and child. The Atunto Eko 1.0 initiative is a blueprint for our collective future, one where every Lagosian can thrive. I invite you to join me in this journey. Let us work hand in hand, embracing the challenges ahead with strength and determination.

Together, we can turn our dreams into reality. Together, we will build a Lagos that is not just better, but a Lagos that works for everyone.

As we continue to engage with communities across the state, I urge you to participate, share your thoughts, and be part of this transformative movement. Your voice matters, and your involvement is crucial. Let’s unite for a Better Lagos!
