My name is Laja Adeoye, and I am excited to announce my candidacy for the governorship of our beloved Lagos State. I believe in a government that is transparent, accountable, and dedicated to the welfare of its citizens. My vision for Lagos is one where every resident feels secure, valued, and empowered. We are a city of over 20 million people, and I understand the unique struggles we face in different communities—from the bustling streets of Victoria Island to the vibrant neighborhoods of Ikorodu.
Transforming Education
Education is the bedrock of any society. As your governor, I will prioritize the transformation of our educational system, ensuring that every child in Lagos has access to quality education, no matter their background. I envision a Lagos where schools in areas like Agege and Badagry have the resources they need—modern classrooms, trained teachers, and access to technology. My goal is to enhance our literacy rate by 20% over the next four years and to introduce vocational training programs that equip our youth with skills for the 21st century.
Boosting Our Local Economy
Our local economy is the lifeblood of Lagos, and it is time we harness its full potential. I will work diligently to create an environment where small businesses can thrive, particularly in Alimosho and Surulere. I plan to establish a Small Business Fund that will provide grants and low-interest loans to entrepreneurs, helping them to launch and expand their businesses. Additionally, I will advocate for policies that attract foreign investment, creating thousands of jobs and stimulating economic growth across our state.
Ensuring Safety for All
Safety is a fundamental right. I promise to implement a comprehensive security strategy that involves community policing, increased funding for our police force, and partnerships with local vigilante groups. In neighborhoods like Ejigbo and Oshodi, we will work to establish a community safety program that empowers residents to take an active role in maintaining peace and security. My goal is to reduce crime rates by 30% in the first two years of my administration.
