Event Brief
On 15th April 2026, the Ibile Eko Summit Foundation will host the General Assembly of Indigenous Associations in Lagos State under the theme “Addressing Urbanization and Urban Challenges of Lagos State.”
The high-profile gathering will be held at Shell Hall, MUSON Centre, Onikan, starting at 11:00 am prompt. His Excellency, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Governor of Lagos State, will serve as Chief Host and Special Guest, while His Excellency, Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola, CON, SAN – former Governor of Lagos State and former Minister of Works and Housing – will deliver the keynote address.
The summit is designed as a deliberate platform to strengthen the collective voice of indigenous Lagosians, galvanise common interests, and build a formidable front for the Lagos of our collective dream. It seeks to foster robust dialogue, networking, and actionable solutions to the evolving dynamics of Nigeria’s most populous and rapidly urbanising state.
Laja Adeoye , a prominent stakeholder, leading PDP Governorship Aspirant for Lagos State, and advocate for Lagos heritage, is among the distinguished invitees. His long-standing development agenda aligns perfectly with the summit’s objectives, especially in the critical areas of culture, urbanization, housing, and sustainable progress.
Prince Adeoye has consistently championed the preservation of Lagos’ indigenous identity and cultural landmarks while advocating for modern, inclusive urban planning that benefits original inhabitants. His vision emphasises responsible urbanization that does not erase ancestral heritage, strategic housing initiatives that address the needs of indigenous families, and community-driven development models that ensure Lagos remains both progressive and rooted in its proud history. Participation in the Ibile Eko Summit provides him yet another opportunity to contribute meaningfully to these conversations and help forge the “one strong voice” the Foundation envisions.
The Ibile Eko Summit Foundation, under the leadership of President Mr. Olasupo Shasore (SAN), continues to demonstrate that indigenous Lagosians remain active architects of the state’s future. As the letter of invitation rightly notes, “those efforts need new vigour and broader intentional involvement” to meet the many challenges facing Lagos State indigenes – the land our ancestors left us as an inheritance and source of pride.
True and indigenous Lagosians must rise to support this effort. We must actively preserve our heritage, protect our ancestral inheritance, and continue the sustainable development of our state. The future of Lagos belongs to those who understand its past and are committed to its greater glory.
