APM Lagos LG and LCDA Chairmen, National Assembly Candidates Unite Ahead of 2027 Elections

APM Lagos LG and LCDA Chairmen, National Assembly Candidates Unite Ahead of 2027 Elections

On August 28, 2026, the leadership of our great party, the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) in Lagos State, took another important step in strengthening our structures and preparations ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The Chairmen of our 20 Local Government Areas and 37 Local Council Development Areas met with our Senatorial and House of Representatives candidates at the Delta Continental Hotel, Ajao Estate, Lagos, to review the state of the party, assess our political direction and chart a clear path towards the elections.

It was an interesting and encouraging day for our party.

What stood out for me was the determination across the different levels of our structure to work together, strengthen grassroots mobilisation and build an APM that is capable of competing effectively across Lagos State.

Vote of Confidence in APM Lagos Leadership

Following extensive deliberations, the 20 LGA Chairmen passed an absolute vote of confidence in the Lagos State Executive Council under the leadership of our State Chairperson, Hon. Mrs. Shakirat Adeyemo.

The Chairmen commended her leadership style, particularly her commitment to inclusiveness, internal democracy, discipline and an open-door approach that gives stakeholders across the state a voice in the affairs of the party.

They also acknowledged the efforts of our Senatorial and House of Representatives candidates, who have continued to work with the leadership and contribute towards expanding the reach of the party.

The progress we are making at the grassroots is particularly important.

Our structures across the 20 LGAs have continued to grow stronger, while the integration of the 37 LCDAs into the Lagos APM structure gives us an even wider network through which we can reach communities, wards and polling units across the state.

This is how elections are won — not only through speeches, but through organisation, presence and sustained engagement with the people.

A United APM Ahead of 2027

I was also encouraged by the vote of confidence expressed in our presidential project and in my candidacy for Governor of Lagos State.

The Local Government and LCDA leadership reaffirmed its commitment to mobilising aggressively across Lagos for Makinde/Daura for President and for our Reset Lagos movement.

For me, this is not simply about receiving an endorsement.

It is about the responsibility that comes with the confidence being placed in us.

Lagosians are asking important questions about the future of their state. They are concerned about the cost of living, housing, transportation, healthcare, education, security, jobs and whether government is truly working in their interest.

Our task is to take our message beyond party meetings and into every community.

We must listen to the people.

We must organise.

We must present a credible alternative.

And ultimately, we must earn their trust.

Strengthening Our Grassroots Structure

One of the most important resolutions from the meeting was the commitment of the LGA and LCDA structures to work together in preparation for upcoming political engagements and the 2027 elections.

The Chairmen declared their readiness to stand together, resist intimidation and ensure that the party remains united as we deepen our mobilisation efforts at the grassroots.

The meeting also welcomed the elevation of Halima Abdulrafiu from Assistant State Secretary to State Secretary.

I congratulate her and wish her success as she takes on this greater responsibility within our party.

As we move forward, unity must remain one of our greatest strengths.

There will always be distractions in politics, but our focus must remain on the bigger objective: building a movement capable of delivering meaningful change to the people of Lagos State and Nigeria.

The Work Continues

I commend our State Chairperson, Hon. Mrs. Shakirat Adeyemo, members of the State Executive Council, our LGA and LCDA Chairmen, our Senatorial and House of Representatives candidates, and every member who continues to contribute to the growth of the APM in Lagos.

The energy I saw at this meeting gives me confidence that our structures understand the task ahead.

The 2027 elections will require discipline, organisation and massive grassroots mobilisation.

We are determined to do the work.

We are determined to take our message to Lagosians across every LGA, LCDA, ward and polling unit.

And we are determined to mobilise massively for Makinde/Daura for President and Laja Adeoye for Governor of Lagos State.

The journey continues.

I congratulate every member of the APM family who contributed to making the convention peaceful, organised and successful. For me, the convention was more than a gathering of party members.
