Prince Adelaja Adeoye, formerly the National Publicity Secretary of the Action Democratic Party (ADP), has made a significant return to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). His return was marked by a joyful reception at his ward F5, Ifoshi, Oshodi Isolo in Lagos. Adelaja's political journey has been notable, starting from his departure from PDP in 2016 to join ADP, where he rose to become the State Publicity Secretary in 2017 and later the National Publicity Secretary following ADP's National convention in Abuja in 2019. Known for his vocal opposition stance, Adelaja has garnered support and members during his tenure with ADP.
Upon rejoining PDP, Adelaja's return sparked celebrations among his followers and PDP members across Lagos State. He has called on all his supporters to follow suit and join PDP in their respective states nationwide. His homecoming ceremony at Ward F5 saw the presence of key figures such as Elder Olajide Adedeji Canon, the Secretary of the Elders council, and Mr. Gbenga Fajuke, the Ward Chairman, alongside other ward executives.
Adelaja's recent political activities included a consultative tour meeting with prominent leaders like Former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Oyo State Governor Engr. Seyi Makinde, Otunba Segun Adewale (Aeroland), and plans to engage with Senator Bukola Saraki, the Chairman of PDP's reconciliation committee, and other notable PDP leaders. Commenting on his return, Adelaja expressed his commitment to rebuilding PDP and uniting its members towards the 2023 elections.
"I have returned to PDP β a pleasant home," said Adelaja. "It is time for all of us to join hands and rebuild our party. As Democrats, we must set aside differences and work together to rescue Nigeria from the current misdirection under the APC."
Adelaja reflected on his initial departure from PDP, noting, "I ventured into other parties to gain insights that will aid in rebuilding PDP, Lagos State, and our nation as a whole."
Encouraging youth participation in politics, Adelaja emphasized the role of social media in mobilizing grassroots support and urged Nigerian youths to engage actively in political processes. He also called on the current government to prioritize the welfare of Nigerians, hinting at PDP's readiness to reclaim power in 2023 with innovative ideas.
